Short Documentary Series about mining company AngloGold Ashanti in Colombia

While ecological destruction is often more of an abstract issue in the Global North, it is very concrete and immediate in other places. In Colombia, the multinational company “AngloGold Ashanti” mines gold, copper and other metals. The company’s mines destroy animal habitats and pollute water. They are also accompanied by the eviction and expropriation of small farmers and the murder of local activists. The web series “Historias Quebradas” documents the unethical and violent practices of the corporation.

We will watch the series together on Saturday 28 October at the TransitionHaus (Schulstr. 7). An activist from affected by “AngloGold”, who helped create the documentary, will also be there. After the screening you can buy soli-posters and there will be coffee and cake against extractivism. All proceeds will go to the campaign. We look forward to seeing you there!

Während ökologische Zerstörung im Globalen Norden oftmals eher ein abstraktes Thema ist, zeigt sie sich an anderen Orten ganz konkret und unmittelbar. In Kolumbien baut der multinationale Konzern “AngloGold Ashanti” Gold, Kupfer und andere Metalle ab. Die Minen des Konzerns zerstören die Lebensräume von Tieren, und verschmutzen das Wasser. Außerdem gehen sie mit Vertreibungen und Enteignungen von Kleinbäuer*innen sowie Ermordungen von lokalen Aktivist*innen einher. Die Webserie “Historias Quebradas” dokumentiert die unethischen und gewalttätigen Praktiken des Konzerns.

Wir werden die Serie am Samstag, den 28.10. gemeinsam im TransitionHaus (Schulstr. 7) anschauen. Dabei ist auch eine Aktivistin von “Betroffene von AngloGold”, die die Doku mit erstellt hat. Im Anschluss können noch Soli-Plakate erstanden werden und es gibt Kaffee und Kuchen gegen Extraktivismus. Alle Einnahmen gehen an die Kampagne. Wir freuen uns auf euer Kommen!
